Nebraska PSC Sets Universal Service Fund Contribution Rate; I–VoIP Providers Affected

SHARE

By Order entered June 1, 2011, the Nebraska Public Service Commission adopted staff’s recommendation to maintain the 6.95% Nebraska Universal Service Fund surcharge for the upcoming funding year, July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.

All affected telecommunications companies, including providers of Interconnected VoIP services, are required to collect and remit the NUSF surcharge to the Commission.

The Nebraska Public Service Commission aggressively and proactively enforces compliance with the NUSF program and frequently subjects non-compliant or delinquent companies to Show Cause enforcement proceedings.  Mere delays in submitting NUSF Remittances can result in proposed fines in excess of $20,000.

If your company currently provides service or anticipates providing service in the near future to customers in the state of Nebraska, but has not previously participated in the NUSF program, please contact the attorney assigned to your account for more information on the registration and remittance processes.
